RIDU is a peer-to-peer coordination platform that enables users to arrange shared rides and activities.
RIDU is not a transport provider and does not:
- Offer commercial passenger transport services
- Operate as a rideshare, taxi, or booking service
- Control, manage, or direct any ride
RIDU does not enter into any transport contract with users.
Any agreement for a ride is strictly between users.
2. Non-Commercial / Cost-Sharing Nature
RIDU is intended for informal, non-commercial ride sharing.
Drivers must not:
- Operate as commercial transport providers through RIDU
- Offer rides for profit or as a business
- Misrepresent the nature of a ride
Any contribution to costs (fuel, tolls, etc.) must be:
- Voluntary or clearly disclosed
- Not for profit
Users are solely responsible for ensuring their use complies with all applicable laws.
3. No Control or Supervision
RIDU does not:
- Screen or continuously verify all users
- Supervise rides or interactions
- Guarantee identity, behaviour, or reliability
Any ratings, profiles, or content are:
- User-generated
- Not verified or endorsed by RIDU
4. User Responsibility & Acknowledgment
By using RIDU, you agree that:
- You act entirely at your own risk
- You are responsible for verifying other users
- You make your own decisions regarding participation
You are solely responsible for:
- Your personal safety
- Your conduct
- Your agreements with other users
5. Driver-Specific Responsibilities
If you offer a ride, you confirm that you:
- Hold a valid and appropriate driver licence
- Operate a roadworthy, registered vehicle
- Comply with all road and transport laws
- Maintain legally required insurance
You also confirm that:
- You are not operating a commercial transport service via RIDU
- You accept full responsibility for passengers and the journey
6. Passenger Responsibilities
If you join a ride, you acknowledge that:
- You choose to ride with another user voluntarily
- RIDU does not vet drivers or vehicles
- You are responsible for assessing safety before participation
You remain responsible for:
- Your personal belongings
- Your own insurance (if desired)
7. Insurance Disclaimer (Strengthened)
RIDU does not provide any insurance, including:
- Vehicle insurance
- Third-party liability insurance
- Personal accident insurance
- Coverage for loss or damage
RIDU does not verify the existence, validity, or adequacy of any user’s insurance.
All insurance obligations rest solely with users.
8. Safety Practices (Recommended but Not Guaranteed)
RIDU may provide safety tips or features. These are:
- Informational only
- Not guarantees of safety
Users should always:
- Meet in safe public locations
- Inform a trusted person before rides
- Verify key details independently
- Decline any ride that feels unsafe
9. No Liability for Incidents
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RIDU is not liable for:
- Accidents, collisions, or traffic incidents
- Personal injury or death
- Property damage
- Theft, loss, or disputes
- Misconduct by users
This applies to all interactions arranged via the platform.
10. Release & Indemnity
You agree to:
- Release RIDU from claims arising from user interactions
- Indemnify RIDU against claims resulting from:
- Your use of the platform
- Your breach of these terms
- Your conduct in connection with any ride
11. Legal Compliance
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of RIDU complies with:
- Road rules and transport laws
- Licensing requirements
- Local regulations regarding ride sharing
RIDU does not provide legal advice or compliance verification.
12. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
However, where permitted, RIDU excludes or limits liability to the fullest extent allowed by law.
13. Acknowledgment of Risk
By using RIDU, you:
- Acknowledge that shared rides involve inherent risks
- Voluntarily accept those risks
- Agree that RIDU is not responsible for outcomes arising from those risks
